Why we're different
The role
We're looking for a talented and self-motivated DevOps Engineer to join our growing Engineering team here at Summize. You'll play a key role in building, maintaining, and evolving the infrastructure that powers the Summize platform. This is a remote-first position with a requirement to visit our Manchester office approximately once per month for team collaboration days.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure on Azure
- Manage and improve CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, reliable software delivery
- Implement infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform
- Monitor system health, performance, and reliability proactively identifying and resolving issues
- Work closely with our Software Engineering team to support deployments and improve developer workflows
- Drive security best practices across infrastructure, networking, and access management
- Maintain containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (or equivalent)
- Contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
- Document infrastructure, processes, and runbooks to a high standard
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in a DevOps, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineering role
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms Azure preferred
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or equivalent
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar)
- Solid understanding of containerisation — Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tooling (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar)
- Scripting ability in PowerShell, Bash, or similar
- Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously in a remote-first environment
